Artificial intelligence is a concept entailing the ability of machines learning and being able to react to particular behaviors. The essentiality of artificial intelligence is growing on a daily basis. It has been on the lead at pushing technological advancements forward. Businessfields and technology firms are continuously taking on artificial intelligence advancements positively. The advancements are continuously relieving the need for the presence of humans at specific customer interaction points. They can handle certain tasks almost perfectly without fatigue or the need for supervision. Scientists predict a high level of artificial intelligence usage at customer points over the next few years.
The current artificial intelligence systems have the capability of thinking and deciding how to perform particular tasks and also learn new things. They occupy positions that require repetitive tasks that are required to be error-free. According to Shabbir et al. (2015), most of the artificial intelligence systems are still in debate on whether or not they should be employed. Self-driving cars are still undecided on whether or not they should be allowed on the road. However,artificial intelligence systems are considered to be error-free, any errors that occur in the development are most likely to have dangerous effects hence the debate. However, artificial intelligence systems hold the future of most machines and automobiles.
Artificial intelligence aims at developing robots that imitate the functioning of the human brain. However, machines lack emotions. They cannot react in cases where emotions are required. They can only react in the same way as an emotionally weak person is most likely to react. There are several things that machines lack. The capability of going around are most likely going to fail sooner or later. Machines that think and act entirely as a human being are impossible to make since they cannot pass the behavioral test perfectly. According to Alsedrah(2017), they lack emotionsor cannot detect jokes or learn out of past mistakes. Since humans react differently and have a new reaction every time an occurrence takes place differs with robots since they are limited to the algorithm that was employed during their manufacture. They cannot be creative; they depend on the level of creativity of the programmers. They could fail to notice particular objects or actions if they were not captured during the coding.
Artificial intelligence is a continuously developing sector whose advancements are unlimited. Constant research and the support of the creative works of the programmers make the potential of artificial intelligence unlimited. As research progresses, errors that are made on previous robots are erased, and new algorithms are included. It brings in faster and more efficient robots whose thinking is closer to the human brain. The future of artificial intelligence is bright and will be employed in almost all fields. When errors in the coding of machines will be eliminated, Artificial intelligence, such as self-driving cars will be allowed on the roads. Owners of cars will nolonger have to seek for chauffeurs or have to learn to drive. They only need to feed in their destination and transportation preferences.
The accounting profession is also being challenged by the great advancements in the artificial intelligence sector. According to Stancheva (2018), all businesses look for ways to reduce the cost of performing tasks. Looking at artificial intelligence systems, they are not employed; hence the cost of production is lower. They work more efficiently and do not require breaks or rest, meaning that the businesses can offer a 24-hour service to its customers without struggling. They are also error-free hence their efficiency is optimum.
However perfect artificial intelligence systems may seem, they are also limited. Businesses that depend on robots in the accounting department are limited to the ideas that were brought up before the systems were developed. They cannot come up with new ways of performing their tasks and may become outdated within a short while. They cannot be taught to use new methods if their hardware does not support them. Updating them may be expensive, considering that the prior installation is expensive. Updating them requires a human accountant to bring the ideas to the programmer so that they can be coded. The need for human accountants hence remains obligatory.
Artificial intelligence systems are improving with every passing day. There are systems developed for all sectors. In the business world, their necessity is increasing with every passing day. However, the need for human accountants remains undeterred.
