To support the growth of our “community of scholars,” you will collaborate on a team-based Case Study assignment. Your success with this application will depend on your ability to collaborate with others, while providing a thorough analysis. Students will be assigned to a three- to six-person group. Each group will be assigned a case study from the textbook. During Week 1, the instructor will make the group assignments and assign each group to a specific case study. Groups can be accessed in the Groups area of the classroom.

During the initial formation and organization process, each group will review the assignment and develop an organization for success. The following lead roles will be assumed by group members by mutual consent. Group members will define these lead roles as they think necessary for complete understanding by all members of the group.

  • Organizer (or, the timeline enforcer: assigns roles and establishes timelines)
  • Researcher (all members should participate)
  • Compiler (takes research results and compiles into a unified document)
  • Editor and poster (edits for mistakes and submits paper on time)

All group members will receive the same group grade based on the instructor’s evaluation of the final product and on all members’ constructive participation. The instructor reserves the right to reduce the grade of any individual group member based on his evaluation of that member’s constructive team effort. All members are required to fully and constructively participate in the group Application Assignment.


Each group will produce a Case Study analysis report. Please refer to the Case Preparation document in the Doc Sharing area for additional information and guidance in developing this assigment.

In addition to answering the case study questions, the analysis should provide a brief background for the reader; identify what the group believes to be the key issues; describe the elements of critical thinking and decision-making that came into play; and, if necessary, include the group’s assessment of what might have been done to change the situation to a positive outcome.

In your paper, write a thorough analysis of the key issues relevant to your group’s assigned case study. Make sure to employ the key concepts from your course readings when preparing your group’s case study analysis.

Group members may choose to consider these questions in their discussion before writing their analysis:

  • What happened?
  • What was/were the cause(s)?
  • What was the impact?
  • What was the outcome?
  • What concepts and theories did you notice in your examination that worked? Why did they work?
  • What concepts and theories did not work or were ineffective? Why?


The paper should be 1,100-1,200 words (4 pages, double spaced). The paper is to follow APA (American Psychological Association) style and format.
